They were indeed news. I enjoyed while reading and felt while thinking about them.
American feather: The news that captured the front page of all leading newspapers couple of weeks ago. It was neither about economic policies nor war strategies. Not even the well criticized bail-out plan. What else was that? It was about the new 'first' dog, Bo. I was unaware that even a dog would get such a media attention. Either media has nothing else to report or the dog is unusual. Anyhow, it gives us a reason to 'Boo' Mr Obama!
Indian feather: The height of verbal assault by two of the leading Indian statesmen at each other. Petty bickering. They abused each other in public without realizing that it is not too far away from turning against them. Mr Advani and Dr Singh, please think about yourselves. Think about people too, when you find time!
Another Indian feather: Mr Karunanidhi, an octogenarian and a chief minister of one of the states in India, went on a fast against Srilankan government for man-slaughtering Tamil population in Srilanka and yet not ceasing fire. Mr Karunanidhi, the following are FYI. Marina is a tourist place not your bedroom. If something 'unfortunate' happens while fasting, Mr Rajpaksa would not be held responsible. Considering your age, it would have been clearly natural. Then why this drama? Before I forget, where were you when your son burnt alive three in Madurai for your own family reasons? In Srilanka?
One more Indian feather: Mr Narayana Murthy, chief mentor of Infosys. Ltd. He is well known, at least of late, for his exceptional 'foot-in-mouth' remarks. This time: "In India, articulation is mistaken for accomplishments". He stands as a perfect example for his statement. This is not the first time though. Mr Murthy always exposes his ignorance through interviews. Competitor to Mrs Palin.
I have all feathers now. But where is my hat?

coincident while reading the blog one of feather is rushed to hospital seems that 'unfortunate' is a deliberate curse... its not only you but many more in search of hat not for pinning feathers but to protect to from rising mercury
Although I agree with you on the rest, I must disagree with how you consider NRN's remark.
He is not one of my favourite personalities, I couldn't agree more with what he said.
This article reflects most of what I feel, do read it.
http://randomgraphs.blogspot.com/2009/04/why-im-afraid-of-society-of.html
To add to the article, and also what NRN said about the "Brahmanical Society", yes, I think that has lead to the rather downfall of Indian society over the past few centuries.
Education in a progressive society should never be restrictive. Not a select few individuals who are given special privileges based on caste and which society they are born under.
Brahmins, although were known for their rather "basic" lifestyle were the most powerful people in the society due to their proximity to "god". They were revered among people for this.
But most of the education was never documented but passed on from generation to generation by word of mouth just so the power would remain with them.
But I'm digressing here. Speaking of articulation, yes, we don't make good technicians. We make excellent arm-chair critics. We talk, discuss, and go back to our homes and rest. We are a nation filled with corrupt individuals and although corruption makes for nice coffee table conversation, nobody wants to get out to the streets and protest.
Speaking of articulation, we knew precisely where the moon and the sun were, and how the planets are aligned and even the fact that it was the earth that revolved around the sun and not vice-versa although the western world of the 16-17 century would disagree.
But what happened since then? They have put a man on the moon and we are still performing shastras.
When we were invaded, instead of taking a sword and fighting, we were compelled by the brahminical ways of waiting for the appropriate time and day to fight. When are wealth was being stolen and country was being pillaged, our brahmins were performing "yagnas" to save it.
The Brahmanical society also forbid people from crossing the oceans because that made us impure! Yeah right, great explorers we made as a result of that.
We have always been instilled with fear saying don't do this, don't do that.. we have never been asked to go there and find out for yourself. Where do you think all this stems from??
I could go on, but let me stop here. I think this Brahmanical "holier than thou" abstractism has damaged the society enough, and the sooner people become better "explorers, technicians and executioners" the better it is for soceity.
That's exactly what i thought about karunanidhi's election time stunt. And about the 'first dog' :), this is too much of publicity, for a pet!
